Hamilton, Bermuda
The neatly maintained vintage shops of Front Street are at your doorstep when you dock in Hamilton. British influences have blended comfortably with casual island style. Explore the town, including the Royal Yacht Club, the Cathedral with its memorials, and the Historical museum. The ms Veendam serves as your hotel for two nights in the capital city of Hamilton, and from the dock you’ll be just a few steps from bustling Front Street. To do: take a ride in a horse-drawn surrey; admire Sessions House, the seat of government since 1815; check out the splendid views from Fort Hamilton; play a round of golf; or browse through friendly shops for handicrafts and, of course, Bermuda shorts.
St George, Bermuda
On the East End of Bermuda lies St George. This postcard-come-to-life features cobblestone streets with names like Petticoat Lane and Featherbed Alley. Glorious beaches and historic King’s Square on the waterfront are favorite attractions as well. The town contains branches of most of the major stores in Hamilton. What qualifies an entire town for UNESCO World Heritage status? For St George’s (est 1612), it was the charm of its stone buildings, neatly bricked streets and hearldic sights; it is the oldest continually inhabited English settlement in the New World. Our overnight here affords you the time to wander charming streets, play a round of golf, take tea in a local shop, and admire replicas of the British Crown Jewels at Fort St Catherine.
